Intrusive thoughts—unwanted, disturbing thoughts that seem to appear from nowhere—affect almost everyone. But when they become frequent, distressing, or seem to demand response, they can seriously impact wellbeing. Managing Intrusive Thoughts provides understanding and strategies for working with unwanted thoughts. You'll learn what intrusive thoughts are, why fighting them makes them worse, and evidence-based approaches for reducing their power and frequency. Drawing from OCD research, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and cognitive psychology, the course explains the paradox of thought control: the more you try to suppress thoughts, the more they appear. You'll learn alternatives that actually work. Through our ACT Triangle methodology, you'll develop new relationships with intrusive thoughts during the course. You'll practice allowing thoughts without engaging them, reduce the distress they cause, and discover that thoughts—even disturbing ones—are just mental events. Because freedom from intrusive thoughts isn't about stopping them—it's about changing your relationship with them.
